Much faster charge than the old way--used to take an overnight to charge the battery, now a few hours. (Useful for me in confirming my old battery was bad too). With the visual indicator I also know when to unplug the charger when it is done. My standard charger died.sounds like that happens to a lot of people. The new charger includes an LED to show the charging status and whether a battery pack is good or not.

After the third or fouth time, the charger proceeded to charge the battery. My father-in-law had hardly used the drill. Knowing the battery had to be nearly new, I plugged it back into the charger several times. Product was very good. So, if your battery is completely discharged give that a try before replacing it. The only problem I had was my battery had been completely discharged for a long time (I got it handed down by my father-in-law). It does recharge in an hour as advertised, which is great. So, when I inserted the battery into the charger the "replace battery" indicator light went on.
When it arrived I was able to put two tools back into use after a year or so of no charger.I had been buying Black and Decker tools for over 40 years so it was disappointing when I had to change brands, simply because I could not get a decent charger.Thank you for supplying this I hope it lasts. The service center failed to respond to emails or telephone so it was with reluctance that I ordered this different charger model. I had two chargers fail that came with a drill and a hedge cutter. I had them replaced by Black and Decker service center, at my expense, and they failed on first use.
